How much does it cost to file a bankruptcy?

With the enactment of the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005, both clients and attorneys are under a heightened duty to perform an adequate inquiry into the client financial status. All individuals are required to participate in debt counseling and a financial management class. The costs of these services vary.

Chapter 7 attorneys fees range from $799 to $1,500.

Chapter 13 attorneys fees range from $2,600 to $3,000.  Most of that fee is paid through your Chapter 13 Repayment Plan.

Chapter 11 fees can easily exceed $10,000.

Additionally, our fee will depend on whether you are eligible for relief under Chapter 7, Chapter 13, or Chapter 11. Please feel free to call our office at 865-246-1050 to schedule a free consultation.

The Filing Fees paid to the Bankruptcy Court are as follows:

Chapter 7  - $299

Chapter 13 – $300

Chapter 11 – $800
